Cascade Wind is a proposed 60-megawatt (MW) wind farm currently under development near The Dalles, Wasco County, Oregon. The project is situated along Interstate Highway 84 bordering the Columbia River in the north-central part of the state and is ideal for wind farm development due to the world-class wind speeds along this portion of the Columbia river. The project area consists of mixed-use property predominantly in tracts of wheat fields and pasture.

Multiple power purchasers have expressed interest in the project’s energy output, which will interconnect to the Bonneville Power Authority’s (BPA’s) The Dalles-Hood River 115-kilovolt (kV) transmission line. First Wind will enter into final wind energy sales contracts upon the completion of project permitting. It is First Wind’s desire to supply local consumers with renewable energy.

The project will consist of 40 General Electric (GE) 1.5 sle (MW) wind turbine generators with 77-meter rotor diameter on 80-meter towers.
